The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issues an annual Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) final rule detailing the confirmed changes to Medicare coding and billing paid under the Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) payment system as well as changes to associated quality reporting programs. Additionally, there are policies in the 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) final rule that impact outpatient hospital billing and reimbursement.

Hemamalini Alex is a manager of talent development at AGS Health with approximately 13 years of varied experience in training, education, corporate and compliance auditing. She possesses seven years of training experience in medical coding and is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through AAPC. She leads her team in designing and implementing end-to-end learning content solutions and training methodologies for foundation training as well as continuous learning programs through gamified learning as well as medical coding certifications from AAPC and AHIMA. She is also a member of the Diversity and Inclusion team to promote awareness and inclusivity among employees and is also involved in programs to empower women in the workforce.
