Accurate International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) coding remains a foundational requirement for compliant documentation, clean claims, and reliable reimbursement. Even small medical coding inaccuracies can drive denials, increase audit exposure, and create downstream operational rework across the revenue cycle.

For FY 2027, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has finalized a new set of ICD-10-CM diagnosis code and guideline updates effective October 1, 2026. These changes apply to all insurers and introduce meaningful documentation and reporting considerations that revenue cycle, health information management (HIM), and coding leaders must address now.

Rather than reacting to denials or post-payment audits, healthcare organizations must proactively align coding teams, workflows, and quality programs with updated ICD-10-CM standards. As payer scrutiny intensifies around diagnosis-driven medical necessity, risk adjustment, and quality reporting, consistent education across internal and global operations teams helps reduce denials, underpayments, and compliance risk.

In this 90-minute master class, AGS Health medical coding leaders will walk through the FY 2027 ICD-10-CM updates and explain how to operationalize them effectively. Attendees will leave with practical insights to support coding accuracy, reduce audit risk, and strengthen revenue integrity across a flexible delivery model.
